Area of interest
The whole Broads area covers some 250 square miles and includes between 50 and 200 miles of navigable rivers and Broads, depending upon your craft.
This site, specialising in the sailing of these un powered cabin yachts, restricts its coverage to the northern Broads area, specifically to the north of Acle bridge.
Let's be clear, it is quite possible to take these yachts down the Bure and through Yarmouth crossing Breydon Water and on to explore the Yare and the Waveney. Such a trip requires good planning, tides at the right times of day, and some good fortune with the wind. It has been done many times and there are some excellent write ups giving those who wish to try it many hints.
However, in my view, there is plenty of good and varied sailing to be had in these northern parts that make it unnecessary to risk the perils of Yarmouth with its strong tides and the relatively uninteresting southern broads area with its relative scarcity of good pubs.
